This May 7th, SRA Ministries will celebrate the graduation of over 130 adult learners and 32 children from its English and Citizenship programs. The event honors resilience, growth, and the powerful impact of education on families and the community.
This coming Thursday, May 7th, SRA Ministries will proudly celebrate the graduation of participants from its English and Citizenship programs. This year, approximately 130 adults participated in the programs both in person and online, along with 32 children between the ages of 4 and 12. Each student, at their own pace and level, demonstrated resilience and a strong commitment to continue learning despite the everyday challenges of family responsibilities, demanding work schedules, and other obstacles. The graduation ceremony will recognize not only academic achievement but also the determination and courage of every participant. It is a moment to celebrate progress, no matter how big or small. Families, teachers, and volunteers will come together to honor this shared journey. It promises to be a meaningful and inspiring evening for all.
For many students, the program has been life-changing. Anita Ruiz, now in her third year in the English program, shared her experience: “This program has helped me lose my fear of speaking English. Before, I was afraid to express myself, but now I feel more confident every day. Because of this, I have been able to find better job opportunities and communicate more freely at work. I truly recommend the Communicate English program at SRA Ministries, whether in person or online.” Her story reflects the transformation that happens when students are given the tools and support they need to succeed. Confidence becomes the key that opens new doors. For many, this is just the beginning of greater opportunities.
Diego Flores, currently in his second year, also highlighted the impact of the program on his daily life. “This program has helped me a lot to speak English, and that helps me so much in my job,” he shared. He also expressed a hope for the future of the program: “I would love to see organizations support SRA Ministries with funding so they can open more class times with more teachers. My work schedule makes it difficult for me to attend at 7 PM, so having more options would really help people like me.” His words point to a growing demand for accessible and flexible learning opportunities. As more individuals seek to improve their English, expanding availability becomes essential. Supporting programs like this means investing in people’s growth and success.
Rosa Leyva, teacher of Basic English Level 1, reflected on what has been an extraordinary academic year. “The 2025–2026 school year has been fantastic for our programs,” she said. “The demand for classes was so high that we had to open a new session in January. Those students will graduate in the summer since they are halfway through the course, but even now, their enthusiasm is contagious.” For Rosa, this has been her first experience as a teacher, as she works full-time in the dental field in Dallas. “I have always wanted to give back to the community in gratitude for everything I received growing up as the daughter of immigrants. This has been a beautiful experience that I will carry in my heart. And who knows—if they allow me, I may come back next year!” she added with a smile.
SRA Ministries is more than an organization—it is a family united by a shared vision of transformation and hope. It represents empowerment, the fulfillment of dreams, and the belief that a better tomorrow is possible. The impact of its programs extends beyond students, touching the lives of teachers, office staff, and volunteers who are part of this mission. As the community gathers to celebrate this year’s graduates, it is clear that the true achievement lies not only in certificates earned, but in lives changed. Each story is a testament to perseverance and possibility. And as one class graduates, a new journey begins for many more to come.
