At SRA Ministries, learning English has become a family experience. Parents and children attend classes together, building language skills, confidence, and lasting memories through shared educational journeys at Jubilee Park.
At SRA Ministries, English classes have become more than just a learning opportunity—they have become a true family experience. Every Tuesday and Thursday evening at Jubilee Park Community Center, parents arrive with their children ready to learn, practice, and grow together. The classrooms are filled with energy as adults focus on developing their English skills while children engage in age-appropriate activities that support language learning. This unique model creates a space where education is shared across generations. Families are not only improving their communication skills but also strengthening their bonds. The environment is welcoming, supportive, and centered on growth for everyone involved. It is a powerful reminder that learning is most impactful when it happens together.
One of the most touching stories is that of little Maria, age 4, who began attending classes alongside her mother last year. At the time, she would accompany her mom so that, as she lovingly calls her, “mami” could come to school. Now, as a Pre-K student, Maria has grown into a confident learner and joins the other children along with her older brother, Dylon, to practice English. Her mother, Teresa, shared how meaningful this experience has been for their family. “It has become a family night on Tuesdays and Thursdays to come to school—my kids and me,” she said. She explained that although her husband works late and cannot attend, their children take time at home to practice what they are learning with him. This shared commitment has turned education into a family tradition. Stories like Maria’s reflect the heart of what SRA Ministries strives to build in the community.
Behind this impact are dedicated educators like Ms. Marroquín, one of the program’s support teachers. With over 20 years of experience in Dallas ISD as both an ESL teacher and a school librarian, she brings passion and expertise to every class. “After a long day of work at school, believe it or not, I get reenergized coming to Jubilee Park and teaching English to the adults and their children,” she shared. She expressed admiration for how families refer to the program as “the school,” embracing it as their own. This sense of ownership and pride reflects the deep connection participants feel toward the program. Ms. Marroquín highlighted graduation day as the most powerful moment. Seeing students of all ages celebrate their achievements together is, as she described, “priceless.”
SRA Ministries continues to offer these impactful English classes in person on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Jubilee Park Community Center, located at 917 Bank Street in Dallas. In addition, online classes are available on Mondays and Wednesdays, providing flexible options for those unable to attend in person. The program remains committed to meeting families where they are and supporting their educational journey. As more families join, the vision of learning together continues to grow stronger. At SRA Ministries, education is not just individual—it is a shared path forward.
